Another Missile Fired in the War on Christmas

Last night, the Daily Show had a segment that is absolutely spot-on in skewering Faux News and the hypocritcal indignation they spew about the supposed "War on Christmas" every year.  Not only are Fauxers digging around into deep archives to try and find even the most obscure, irrelevant and old news to get mock-pissed about, but they can't even be honest about it.  John Stewart explains, far more brilliantly and clearly than I can, how absurd and foolish these people are.

The Gretch Who Saved the War on Christmas

Not to mention, they've got the budget and video engineers available to make a "holiday special" out of old Christmas specials (Rudolf, Santa, Frosty and the rest).  It's absolutely hilarious, and destroys (again) any claims that there is a "war".

So, in the spirit of the season -- "Happy Holidays"!

Chuck, why pretend there is no war on Christmas?

You are well aware that organizers of local atheist meetup groups have said that they want Christians to "shut up", "crawl under a rock" and "die"...although they later modified the the remark to "die out".'

Who are you trying to kid? These groups are growing, and the new members laugh and clap and fall over over themselves as those clowns spew there bile.

Futher, in a recent KC Star column...which you are well aware of because you have commented on it in the comment section...the President of American Atheists said that "if the Christian right wants a war on Christmas, they are going to get it".

Sure, there are moderate voices. But I am convinced that if the atheists were actually in control the tune would change.

One thing I promise is that I will work against any such people ever gettng political office.

Chuck,

I am sure you heard about the "war of atheist and catholic billboards" at Lincoln Tunnel in NYC? I am curious how factual statements "Christmas is a Myth" can be considered offensive?

You know it's a myth, Christmas NEVER was celebrated till what 4th century and nobody knows when Jesus was born if ever. Of course, the birth of a deity/god/savior happened before on Winter Solstice and has been and still is a pagan holiday.

Christians celebrating the birth of their savior on a pagan holiday? Something is rotten in Denmark.

I am curious if there is a study about the % of Xians who know the origins of Christmas?

Chuck, this Saturday Skeptics will be watching the new 2010 The Real Story of Christmas. This is an updated version from 2001 or so. Hope you can make it to Perkins at 7 p.m.

A hilarous comment by someone to this article below - I love the part about "orbital position of the Earth" :o) - Where is Jesus when you need him to explain to Christians the origins of Xmas?
************
So if an Atheist owns a business, they would be considered a bad person for not going out of their way to acknowledge a holiday based on a god they don't believe in? Personally I'd be happier going into a store which doesn't have any wreaths or christmas music playing knowing that the store is doing the unconventional thing of acknowledging that not everybody believes in Jesus and trying to make everyone feel comfortable. It's almost like this country has decided that Jesus owns December and that the Christians are being nice enough to allow the Jewish people to celebrate their little holiday as long as it doesn't interfere with the over-the-top extravagance of Christmas in America. Let's all remember something here, the real reason for the season is, and always has been, the orbital position of the earth around the sun changing the amount of exposure to the northern hemisphere due to the angle of the rotational axis of the planet.
